"Agrajag" (Agrajag)

I just started watching this show on Netflix. I'd seen a handful of episodes over the years, but could never get into it. I knew he was a homicide detective. I knew he drove a ratty Peugeot. And I figured since it was an older show there would be some classic steel. Well when the show deals with mostly affluent people committing murders, you get some really awesome cars.
It seems just about everybody owns a 365GTB or an E-type. And they see action. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! tried escaping the police in his Daytona. Columbo was revving a suspects E-type to aggravate him. Sadly in the episode I'm currently watching they just pushed a yellow E-type over a ledge.
There a tons of classic luxobarges, British luxury, but then there was the Grosser. I'm not sure if it was an actual Big but it had that epic !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
If you ever discounted this show for whatever reasons, I suggest you give it a try. This has the Agrajag Seal of Approval.

Absolutely fantastic show. Loved all the episodes I saw, even the one with the robot from Forbidden Planet.

Old episodes of MacGyver are great for car-spotting, too. Lots of '60s and '70s European cars, often meeting nasty ends.

If you want to see the funniest thing ever put on film, watch The In-Laws with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. It is my number one comedy, followed closely by The Russians Are Coming and Blazing Saddles. The only interesting car in the movie is a BMW 7 series, but wait until you see what happens to it.

Do you mean Leslie Nielsen or the actual robot from Forbidden Planet?

If it's a 2+2 with that nasty profile I'm glad they pushed it over the edge.

Peter Falk was one of the greats. Not many could love a Peugeot (Falk picked Columbo's car), play the straight guy and play the funny one all at once.

Agreed. I read that he supplied his own wardrobe as well.

I don't know if you are old enough to remember the Dean Martin roasts on TV, but this is a clip from his roast of Frank Sinatra. In the middle of the show, Peter Falk entered in character as Colombo, and presented this routine, presumably ad lib. It's brilliant. This was a different era of TV, when humor was classy and funny and intelligent. This entire roast used to be on YouTube, but I can't find it any more.

That was great. I never saw these when they were originally broadcast, but I would spend hours watching the commercials selling VHS copies of the Roasts.

The second episode, "Murder by the Book" was directed by 25-year old Steven Spielberg. That episode features a lovely Mercedes 280 SE convertible.
The original run of "Columbo" was a brilliantly written and directed series.

Man, I'd sit down and watch them all, too, if I could watch them all in succession. I find these classic roasts more entertaining than today's. As you said, much more classy, funny, and intelligent. Those people really knew how to have a good time.
